Lemmon's Marigold, Mexican Marigold, Mexican Bush Marigold or Copper Canyon Marigold Lemmon’s Marigold (Tagetes lemmonii) is a shrubby, evergreen plant that reaches mature heights of 2 to 6 feet, with a similar spread. The golden-orange blooms are aromatic when rubbed or brush, with a fragrance reminiscent of citrus and mint. Native to Mexico, this species of Tagetes is perennial in warm, dry climates where it blooms sporadically all year. Lemmon’s marigold is also known as Mexican marigold, Mexican bush marigold or Copper Canyon marigold. Lemmon’s marigold is a relatively fast-growing, sprawling plant that thrives in hot weather and poor soil. Deer dislike the strong aroma and tend to avoid this plant.
