The MeloGold Grapefruit is a cross between a Pummelo and a White Grapefruit. This fruit is extremely large with yellowish green pebbly skin and pale yellow flesh that is sweet-tart in flavor. Like a Pummelo, this fruit has a thicker rind than regular grapefruit, is almost seedless and is very juicy. The Melogold is an outstanding hybrid, available for a few short months. This delicious fruit can stand on its own, and in salads or fruit cocktails. Use olive oil, honey, vinegar, salt, sugar or chiles to enhance the grapefruit flavor.Choose fruit that is firm and feels dense for its size. MeloGold can be kept at room temperature for a few days, but will keep well for up to 3 weeks in the crisper compartment of your refrigerator.
